Inova Loudoun Hospital is looking for a dedicated Patient Access Specialist Senior to join the Float Pool team. This role will be full-time, evening/overnight, 3:00 PM - 11:30 PM/11:00 PM - 7:30 AM) with rotating weekends. Travel is required to Inova Loudoun Hospital & surrounding outpatient practices.

Patient Access Specialist Senior - Float Pool Job Responsibilities;

  • Patient Intake, Registration & Documentation: Audits records and documentation for accuracy, troubleshoots discrepancies, and supports escalations.
  • Administrative & Technology Operations: Compiles reports, troubleshoots system issues, and supports peers.
  • Case Management Tasks: Audits referrals and supports escalations.
  • Financial Counseling: Conducts financial reviews and mentors staff.
  • Insurance & Contract Coordination: Troubleshoots complex cases and educates peers on insurance contract nuances.
  • Inquiries & Patient Concerns: Handles escalations and analyzes trends.
  • Kiosk: Analyzes performance and trains staff on patient kiosks.
  • Patient Communication & Advocacy: Handles sensitive concerns, audits logs, and advocates for patient needs.
  • Referrals: Audits referral workflows and mentors staff.
  • Scheduling: Schedules surgeries and verifies readiness.
  • Transport: Solves transport issues and audits logs.
  • Health Information Management (HIM) Coordination: Liaises with Health Information Management (HIM) on merges and audits medical record numbers (MRNs).
  • Utilization Review Coordination: Supports escalations for medical necessity.
  • Ensures compliance with HIPAA, OSHA, and other applicable federal and state regulations.
  • May perform additional duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education: High School or GED

  • Experience: 2 years of patient access experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience: Recent experience in retail, customer service, or other service-oriented industry

  • Travel: Must be willing to travel within posted location

  • Schedule: Must be available to work a flexible schedule with rotating holidays and every other weekend. Schedule is published in the second week of each month (2 weeks prior at minimum).

  • Other: Fast thinking and versatile. Consistent employment with the same employer is a plus.
