Under general direction, designs, implements, and optimizes secure, scalable infrastructure and CI/CD pipelines supporting enterprise technology services and the University AI Platform. Serves as a technical resource for DevOps practices including Infrastructure-as-Code, container orchestration, security-first automation, and observability. Contributes to the formalization of DevOps-as-a-Service offerings, mentors other engineers and student employees, and collaborates across teams to ensure reliable, compliant, and automated delivery of software and platform services.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement secure, scalable infrastructure for the University AI Platform and enterprise services using Terraform, Kubernetes, and containerization technologies.
  • Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions) ensuring AI tools and applications meet security, accessibility, and compliance standards.
  • Evaluate and integrate emerging technologies such as GitHub Copilot with organizational standards.
  • Collaborates with senior technical staff to align on priorities and technical direction.
  • Contribute to containerization roadmapping and prototype new concepts to improve and innovate within the team.
  • Collaborate with the security team to implement automated security scanning, accessibility scanning, dependency checking, and compliance validation within CI/CD workflows.
  • Define and recommend security guardrails and least-privilege access controls across EntraID, AWS, and Azure environments for review and approval by senior staff.
  • Build secure data pipelines enabling AI access to university data while maintaining FERPA compliance.
  • Implement Splunk observability dashboards for monitoring data integrity, platform performance, and system health.
  • Support the formalization and scaling of DevOps-as-a-Service by documenting learnings and developing self-service tooling and reusable automation patterns for campus-wide adoption.
  • Maintain and optimize GitHub Actions, TDX iPaaS, Terraform, Kubernetes, Docker, and Lando environments with consistent standards and maximum ROI.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, runbooks, and disaster recovery plans.
  • Mentor and guide mid-level DevOps engineers, junior developers, and student employees.
  • Provide technical guidance and knowledge sharing to build long-term institutional DevOps capacity.
  • Must be available for on-call schedule and off-hours work.
  • Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications Required:


  1. Bachelor Degree within Computer Science or closely related field of study
  2. Minimum 1 years of professional IT experience within IT Development which includes demonstrated experience in developing and/or modifying new and existing applications, including requirement analysis, design, code, test, debug, implementation and maintenance.
  3. Experience in a complex, multi-cloud development environment with CI/CD concepts and tools (e.g., GitHub Actions, Jenkins), including designing and implementing Infrastructure-as-Code using Terraform across multiple environments.
  4. Experience architecting and managing container orchestration platforms using Kubernetes and Docker.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 5+ years of professional experience in DevOps or infrastructure engineering.
  • Experience designing and managing infrastructure on AWS and/or Azure cloud platforms.
  • Experience implementing security automation, vulnerability scanning, and compliance validatio within CI/CD pipelines.
  • Experience with scripting languages such as Bash and Python for automation of infrastructure and deployment workflows.
  • Experience with Linux administration in an enterprise environment
  • Experience with observability and monitoring tools such as Splunk, Grafana, or Prometheus.
  • Familiarity with AI/ML platform infrastructure and integration patterns (e.g., GitHub Copilot, LLM hosting).
  • Experience with identity and access management platforms (e.g., EntraID) and least-privilege access models.
  • Knowledge of FERPA or similar data privacy compliance frameworks in a higher education environment.
  • Experience with TDX iPaaS, Lando, and WordPress architecture.
  • Familiarity with Agile/Kanban methodologies and GitFlow workflows.
  • Knowledge of configuration formats such as JSON, XML, and YAML.
  • Understanding of certificates and SSL lifecycle management.
  • Experience mentoring junior or mid-level engineers.
