Summary

Responsible for regional leadership, coordination, and operational management of Anatomical Pathology services across assigned Lee Health facilities. Provides oversight of histology, cytology and pathology support operations, coordinating technical and non-technical staff and allocating resources to ensure consistent, efficient, high-quality service delivery across the region. Works closely with the System Director of Laboratory Services, Laboratory Medical Director, pathologists, and laboratory leadership to develop and implement standardized policies, procedures, workflows, quality initiatives, and strategic objectives. Leads regional performance improvement, workforce planning, service integration, and operational standardization. Promotes excellent customer service and ensures Anatomical Pathology services meet established quality, financial, productivity, turnaround-time, patient safety, and regulatory standards. Participates in system leadership functions and collaborates with hospital, surgical, medical, and administrative leaders as a regional representative of Anatomical Pathology.

Requirements

Education: Bachelors degree in Histotechnology, Biological Sciences, or a related field required. Masters degree in healthcare administration, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.

Experience: Minimum of five years of progressive laboratory leadership experience, including supervisory or management experience in Anatomical Pathology required. Multi-site or regional leadership experience preferred.

Certification: Histotechnician (HT), Scientist in Histotechnology (HTL), Cytotechnologist (CT), or Pathologists Assistant (PA) from the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) required. Qualification in Immunohistochemistry (QIHC) from the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) required.

License: Current State of Florida Department of Health laboratory supervisory license appropriate to the individuals discipline and assigned scope of responsibility required.

Other: Must demonstrate strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. Demonstrates and promotes teamwork, accountability, collaboration, and excellent customer service. Requires strong analytical, financial, organizational, change management, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to lead standardized operations across multiple facilities and competing priorities.
