Your Job

We are seeking an Operations System Engineer to join INVISTA's Global Operations Technology Team. In this role, you will create value by developing and supporting data and technology solutions that enable operational excellence across INVISTA's global manufacturing network. You will leverage operational technology, industrial data, and analytics platforms to improve decision making, equipment reliability, and business performance whilst working very closely with partners in the company's global process control teams.

Our Team

The Global Operations Technology Team is a multi-discipline team responsible for architecting and supporting INVISTA's global operations technology environment. The team partners closely with the global and site process control teams, reliability teams, global IT teams, and technology stakeholders to deliver reliable systems, actionable data, and scalable solutions across the business.

Houston, TX is the preferred location for this role at our production site, our Technology Center in Katy, TX, or our Engineering offices in The Woodlands, TX. This role supports stakeholders across multiple locations and requires periodic travel for team engagement, stakeholder support, and business needs around 10% of the time. Flexible hybrid work is supported with an expectation of spending more time in an office or facility than working remotely. Participation in a global rotating on-call support schedule is required.

What You Will Do

  • Bring new ideas and build POV around improvements in areas such as automation (reducing repetitive manual tasks, optimization), reporting and visualization.
  • Build and maintain operational technology data pipelines using platforms such as AVEVA PI, Seeq, Snowflake, and related technologies to transform raw process data into actionable business insights.
  • Integrate industrial IoT and real-time process data sources into reporting, visualization, and analytics platforms used across operations.
  • Partner with site and capability teams to understand business needs and develop engineered data solutions that improve decision making and operational performance.
  • Support process monitoring, control systems, predictive maintenance capabilities, and asset health programs that improve reliability and reduce unplanned downtime.
  • Apply sound OT and IT cybersecurity practices across supported systems and solutions.
  • Provide support for OT infrastructure, industrial networking, control system migrations, and automation initiatives as business needs require.
  • Utilize approved AI-enabled tools to improve engineering, analysis, troubleshooting, and documentation activities.
  • Participate in a shared global on-call rotation and provide occasional support at sites and facilities.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • Experience with AVEVA PI, HighByte, KepWare or comparable operational technology software platforms.
  • Experience working with modern communication protocols such as MQTT, REST, OPC UA, or application programming interfaces (APIs).
  • Experience reading, modifying, and developing SQL queries, and programming solutions using PowerShell, C#, or comparable languages.
  • Experience diagnosing operational technology challenges and implementing technical solutions, this extends to being able to identify root cause, implement the fix, produce the RCA and communicate to all stakeholders.
  • Willing and able to participate in a rotating on-call support schedule and occasional business travel (10%).

What Will Put You Ahead

  • Experience using analytics and visualization tools such as AVEVA PI, Seeq, Power BI, Snowflake, or comparable platforms.
  • Experience with using AI to implement solutions and diagnose issues such as Claude, CoPilot, ChatGPT, ...
  • Experience with industrial IoT, edge computing, cloud computing, or data engineering solutions in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with PLC, SCADA, DCS, industrial wireless, or process control technologies.
  • Experience supporting virtualization and infrastructure technologies such as VMware, Hyper-V, Nutanix, or Kubernetes.
  • Experience with process control platforms such as Experion PKS, DeltaV, ABB Infi90, ABB 800xA, or comparable systems.
  • Experience applying Agile, Sprint, or Kanban methodologies to technical work.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, or a related technical field.
