Job Description

The Senior Business Support Analyst is responsible for business analysis, data management, reporting, and decision support for electric distribution and transmission asset lifecycle planning within System Planning. Works with data from SAP HANA, SAP BW, GIS, Excel, Access, and Power BI environments to develop reporting solutions, support capital planning analytics, and maintain business performance metrics. Partners with asset planners, engineers, IT, and data stakeholders to improve data quality, data governance, and reporting consistency. Develops and maintains data extraction, conditioning, validation, and reporting processes that enable reliable, data-driven planning and investment decisions. This role focuses on business analysis, reporting, data quality, and decision support and is not a software development, data engineering, or data science position.

Job Responsibilities

  • Uses business analysis, data management, trend analysis, forecasting, and reporting techniques to identify performance trends, asset risks, and planning opportunities.

    • Responsible for maintenance, enhancement, and development of data extraction techniques using SAP HANA, SAP BW, GIS, SQL, Power BI, Excel, VBA, and Macros.
    • Develops metrics, dashboards and recurring analysis, in partnership with Asset Management Planner.


  • Develops and maintains data extraction, conditioning, validation, and reporting processes using SAP HANA, SAP BW, SQL, Power BI, Excel, VBA, and Macros.
  • Coordinates implementation, testing, and deployment of enhanced reporting capabilities, business system improvements supporting accessibility of data used for Asset Management programs.
  • Responsible for PowerBI report maintenance, enhancements, troubleshooting, and training for internal and external stakeholders, when necessary.
  • Assesses current business processes, automates reporting solutions, and evaluates data management practices to develop improvements that enhance program efficiency, consistency, and data consumption.
  • Supports and participates in enterprise initiatives for data quality, governance, and reporting standardization.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in business, economics, finance, or related, and 5 years quantitative/qualitative analysis; or equivalent combination of education and/or work experience.
  • Experience working with relational database sytems (querying, analysis, reporting).
  • Solid written, interpersonal, and group communication skills.
  • Experience using a variety of business applications and analysis tools such as Access, Visio, PowerPoint, Excel, statistical software, SAP Business Warehouse, SAP modules, and Cognos.
  • Excellent problem solving skills.
  • Project management skills.
  • Ability to understand and explain technical concepts.
  • Excellent writing, communication and customer service skills.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Experience in providing guidance and direction to lower staff.
  • Ability to take initiative and work both independently and as part of a team to accomplish objectives.

Desired Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in related field.
  • 5-8 years utility-related experience.
  • Related business-specific experience may include:

    • Advanced relational database experience (MS Access, SQL, Oracle).
    • Experience performing advanced statistical analyses (such as predictive analytics, regression forecasting, data visualization and/or survival analytics).
    • Experience with CSEE Systems (CSY, CIS, CMS).
    • Experience in Crystal Reports and Adobe Acrobat Pro.
    • Programming language (Visual Basic, SQL, VB.NET, HTML).
    • Knowledge of rate-making process.
    • Familiarity with Fabric.


  • Process documentation and improvement experience.

The pay range for this position is$82,000.00-$136,300.00, and this position is eligible for annual goals based incentive bonuses.
