Responsibilities New York Institute of Technology- College of Osteopathic Medicine (COM) seeks a Director of Medical Library at our Long Island (Old Westbury) campus. Reporting to the Associate Dean, the candidate will oversee the New York Based COM library team. Responsibilities include:
Work closely with the library team and the medical library at the Jonesboro, AR campus to establish programs, services and activities that meet the instructional, research and clinical needs of the department/school.
Qualifications Required Degree(s): M.L.S. or advanced degree with a combination of education and experience commensurate with the requirements of this position. Preferred Degree(s): M.L.S. - Required Field of Expertise: library science; information services. Preferred Field of Expertise: library science; information services Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: - A minimum of five years of experience working in a health science library or academic library providing information services to clinicians. Supervisory experience preferred. Knowledge of cataloging and OCLC preferred; familiarity with SIRSI and latest library technology preferred. Demonstrated proficiency with emerging learning and research technologies, as well as information retrieval. Knowledge of PubMed, CINAHL and other health sciences databases and demonstrated experience developing search strategies for literature reviews. Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a rapidly changing environment; ability to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively. Demonstrated commitment to lifelong learning and professional growth, with the ability to adapt to evolving technologies, instructional methods and information resources.
