Under the direction of the sterile processing leadership Team, an SPD Technician I will decontaminate, inspect, assemble, high-level disinfect (HLD), sterilize, store, and distribute instruments, devices, and medical equipment throughout the UMass Memorial Medical Center, along with other associated tasks. They will utilize infection control and safety practices during all phases of the process while maintaining a clean, safe, and organized workspace.I. Major Responsibilities: 2. Position Qualifications: Preferred: Experience/Skills: Position Summary: Under the direction of the Sterile Processing Leadership Team, an SPD Tech II will perform decontamination, inspection/assembly, high level disinfection(HLD)/sterilization, storage and distribution of instruments, devices and medical equipment throughout the UMass Network, along with other associated tasks, utilizing infection control and safety practices during all phases of the process while maintaining a clean, safe and organized workspace. Responsibilities: Performs in the capacity of charge tech to entry level staff. Precepts to ensure quality of work is within department standards. Internal inventory responsibilities including supplies, back up stock, and the expiration process driving reduction of defect resolution issues. Backlog oversight. When backlog exists, assists in coordination of reduction of backlog through prioritization, distribution, and completion of trays. Decontamination

Standard Staffing Level Responsibilities: Complies with established departmental policies, procedures and objectives. Complies with all health and safety regulations and requirements. Respects and promotes a team culture with communication and collaboration. Adherence to all UMass policies. Performs outlined and associated tasks as required or directed. All responsibilities are essential job functions. Position Qualifications: License/Certification/Education: Required: 2 years' experience in Sterile Processing as a Certified and Registered Central Sterile Processing Technician. Current Certified Registered Sterile Processing Technician certification. Current Certified Instrument Specialist advanced certification. Preferred: Minimum of one year in Sterile Processing as a Certified and Registered Central Sterile Processing Technician with UMass CSPD. Experience/Skills: Required: Knowledge of sterilization standards /procedures and Central Service-related terminology. Proficiency with basic computer functions.
