ABOUT THE ROLE

The Traveling Apprentice Lineman is responsible for constructing and maintaining all phases of electrical line construction to include: underground, transmission, and substation.

This will be a traveling position, with majority of work located in the southern States.

Essential Functions

  • Construct and maintain all phases of electrical line construction to include: underground, transmission, substations and wind farms
  • Establish OSHA and customer safety requirements
  • Observe and practice all safety policies and bulletins
  • Plan and initiate projects
  • Set towers and poles
  • Maintain and repair overhead distribution or transmission lines
  • String new wire or maintain old wire
  • Install and maintain insulators
  • Install and maintain transformers and other equipment
  • Assembly and erection of substation
  • Regular and predictable attendance
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Understand and comply with the Company's Code of Business Conduct and Ethics and other industry-specific professional and ethical conduct standards, if applicable
  • Essential functions of this position will be performed at a designated Company office or field location.

ABOUT YOU

Qualifications

  • Transmission line and substation line experience preferred
  • High School graduate or equivalent
  • Experience with digger derricks, bucket trucks, trenchers, and groundwork with utility crews is required

  • Must meet driver qualification requirements as specified in FMCSR Parts 382 and 391

  • Possession of a valid Commercial driver's license Class A preferred

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Must be willing to travel and work away from home
  • Ability to work at heights up to and above 100 feet preferred
  • Must be able to communicate effectively
  • Possess good teamwork skills
  • Ability to understand, comprehend, and follow directions in the workplace
  • Must have a quality work ethic and be committed to optimum customer service
  • Must be able to work additional hours
  • A high awareness of safety and compliance with company safety rules is required at all times

Salary

Commensurate with experience, paid weekly. Posted salary ranges are made in good faith. MYR Group reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the qualifications of the selected candidate.
