Overview
The Digital Operations and Analytics Manager uses data, technology, and process improvement to strengthen performance across Altorfer Power Systems. The role develops actionable analytics while helping implement and drive adoption of digital applications, approved artificial intelligence capabilities, and workflow automation that improve team effectiveness and customer outcomes. Working alongside department leaders, IT, and technology partners, the manager identifies improvement opportunities, develops reporting and analytical solutions, coordinates selected technology implementations, and helps employees incorporate new tools into everyday workflows. The role balances analytics, implementation, adoption, training, data quality, and continuous improvement. Priorities and resources are aligned with division leadership to maintain focus and convert selected opportunities into measurable operational and customer benefits.
Basic Duties
Key Responsibilities
The position's responsibilities are generally allocated across the following areas. The percentages represent the expected overall balance of the role and may vary based on business priorities and active initiatives.
- Analytics, performance reporting, and follow-up, approximately 25%. Develop and improve priority reports, dashboards, recurring reporting solutions, and analytical tools. Analyze trends, performance gaps, and improvement opportunities; translate findings into practical recommendations; and work with department leaders to establish follow-up actions, monitor progress, and report results. Coordinate with IT and other resources when technical support or data access is required. Partner with Product Support, Packaging, Logistics, Sales, Power Rental, Data Center, and other functions to understand business needs, define reporting requirements and performance measures, and identify opportunities to improve decisions and operating performance.
- Technology implementation and process improvement, approximately 25%. Coordinate selected application implementations, system enhancements, integrations, approved AI-enabled solutions, and workflow automation initiatives. Evaluate current workflows, define business requirements and acceptance criteria, support testing and rollout, and coordinate technical delivery with IT, NAXT Development, Caterpillar, and other technology partners. Help establish improved workflows and document the operating practices required to sustain them.
- Application adoption, training, and user enablement, approximately 25%. Develop strong working expertise in priority applications and approved AI and automation capabilities. Identify adoption barriers; coordinate role-based training, onboarding, job aids, and communications; monitor utilization; and help departments incorporate technology into everyday workflows. Coordinate with internal specialists, Caterpillar resources, and other technology partners to improve employee effectiveness and customer value. Support customer onboarding where applicable and establish a clear transition to designated department users, IT, or application-support resources for routine assistance following implementation. Priority Caterpillar applications may include CAT Inspect, CAT Interact, CAT Central, and PCC.
- Opportunity identification and roadmap management, approximately 15%. Develop and maintain a prioritized roadmap of analytics, technology, automation, and process-improvement initiatives across Power Systems. For each initiative, define the expected operational or customer outcome, implementation requirements, adoption approach, measurable benefits, proposed timing, resource needs, dependencies, and responsible business owner. Align priorities with division leadership and communicate progress, competing priorities, risks, and resource needs.
- Data quality and governance, approximately 10%. Coordinate common data definitions, reporting standards, data-quality measures, and monitoring practices with department leaders and IT. Identify data issues, clarify their operational impact, and support corrective actions. Department leaders retain accountability for accurate data entry, employee compliance, and adherence to agreed business processes. IT retains responsibility for technical data architecture, system security, integrations, access controls, and technical support.
- Shared accountability. The Digital Operations and Analytics Manager facilitates implementation, adoption, analytical follow-up, and continuous improvement. Department leaders retain accountability for process ownership, employee participation, operating decisions, and business results. IT retains responsibility for technical architecture, cybersecurity and information security, system integrations, infrastructure, access administration, and ongoing technical support. Initiative-specific responsibilities and support transitions should be agreed upon as part of implementation planning.
- Results and continuous improvement. Establish and monitor agreed measures for reporting performance, implementation effectiveness, utilization, sustained adoption, employee effectiveness, operational improvement, and customer impact. Gather feedback, identify needed adjustments, and document repeatable practices that can be applied across Power Systems.
