Post Doctoral Scholar position in the laboratory of Hiroki Taniguchi Ph.D.

Research focus is on understanding the molecular, cellular, and circuit mechanisms underlying cortical regulation of pain sensation in a physiological state as well as a pathological state induced by cancer and injury. We are particularly interested in the role of cortical inhibitory circuits in pain sensation. To address these questions, we employ mouse genetics, molecular biology, virology, genomics, imaging techniques, and behavioral analysis. We are looking for highly motivated individuals who have experiences in mouse genetics, mouse behavior, two-photon imaging, RNA-sequencing/analysis, and cancer biology.

Plans, designs and executes experiments of considerable scope and complexity in the assigned research lab; performs advanced molecular biology and cellular techniques and procedures such as cell culture, viral production, tissue harvest, tissue sectioning and staining [immunofluorescence (confocalmicroscopy) and immunohistochemistry], microdissection, solution preparation and microscopy, andcomputerized image analysis; performs two-photon imaging and/or behavioral analysis with small animal surgery(mice);collects and analyzes data for research sponsored by appropriate agencies and Institutions; identifies and selects problems to be studied; develops and troubleshoots new experimental techniques and protocols; attends research seminars; contributes to manuscript preparation and supports technical writing; participates in preparation of grant applications for extramural funding; performs additional duties as assigned.
