The Levy Group of Companies is seeking a Mine Planning Engineer to work at our American Aggregates location in Wixom, MI. The Mine Planning Engineer be responsible for assisting with the engineering requirements and data acquisition of mine planning, reclamation, and land planning of the company and exploratory properties
Pay up to $80-90k depending on skillset and experience.

Responsibilities
The Mine Planning Engineer will:

  • Collaborate with operations and plant managers for the purpose of developing short and long term mine and reclamation plans
  • Prepare, edit, and maintain accurate records of geologic and topographic data
  • Analyze existing mine and reclamation plans using appropriate software to support planning and production goals
  • Produce earthmoving and reclamation cost estimates
  • Create accurate mine reserve models, calculates potential reserves and mining life calculations
  • Audit data analysis and calculations used for earthmoving projects
  • Assist with development of drilling plan, execution and recording of all geologic data
  • Utilize AutoCAD to record survey data and drawings
  • Utilize AutoCAD to design and plan changes to land features (i.e. ponds. slopes)
  • Research and prepare basic exploratory property features information
  • Stake elevations, property limits, natural features, debris and other project features using GPS survey equipment
  • Assist in monitoring activities of vendors and outside contractors
  • Collect and provide bathometric and topographic survey information using various GPS instruments
  • Assist with department budget and annual plan
  • Ensure all work is completed within the strictest safety guidelines and company policies and procedures
  • Assist with drone flights and bathometric surveys including related data analysis
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor

Skills
The ideal candidate will have:

  • Bachelor's degree in mining, geological or civil engineering
  • Extensive knowledge in AutoCAD
  • Ability to sit, stand and walk for extended periods of time and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in written and verbal format individually and in group settings
  • Excellent computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft office products and Oracle (preferred)
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English
  • Ability to tolerate noise and temperature variations and to traverse rough terrain including climbing ladders and scaffolding
  • Valid driver's license
