Senior Occupational Health & Safety Manager The Senior Occupational Health & Safety Manager provides technical safety and health support to field and corporate personnel. This position develops corporate safety and health programs and objectives and coordinates safety training programs, as well as monitors safety and health regulations to ensure compliance with federal and state safety and health regulations. Responsibilities
- Conduct
thorough compliance inspections to identify and rectify hazardous conditions and at-risk behaviors. - Implement corrective actions to address
non-compliance issues. - Maintain, track, and analyze leading and
lagging OHS indicators. - Provide health and safety statistics for
reporting and communication to stakeholders. - Utilize digital platforms and tools to
track EH&S metrics, create OHS plans, and generate documentation. - Develop, implement, and deliver OHS training programs for
field operations employees. - Ensure awareness of CWC's OHS programs,
policies, local/federal requirements, and regulations. - Lead or
manage incident investigations, ensuring comprehensive analysis and documentation. - Handle
accidents involving personal injury, property damage, and more. - Coach
direct reports with incident investigation, reporting, root causation and action planning. - Write/revise, Implement and communicate
and audit the requirements of CWC's Occupational Health & Safety Systems. - Ensure
compliance with local and federal regulations. - Manage
and maintain all EH&S-related documentation, including incident reports, training records, monitoring records, and OHS data. - Apply
expertise in building and construction to assess OHS risks during project phases. - Stay
updated on OHS regulations, utilizing federal, state, and local requirements, industry standards, and regulations to provide guidance and updates to relevant groups. - Interpret
client/owner specifications and OHS requirements. - Make
recommendations to ensure compliance with OHS regulations, CWC policies, and applicable laws. - Effectively
convey ideas using appropriate mediums, tailored to the audience's needs. - Manage
incident reviews, insurance claims, injury classification, OSHA recordkeeping, and corrective/preventive actions for your assigned projects and supervise direct reports. - Conduct
quantitative and qualitative analysis to evaluate and report on OHS performance. - Identify
potential risks related to operations, specifications, scope, and project execution. - Develop
risk mitigation strategies throughout project lifecycles. - Implement
strategic goals set by functional leadership. - Contribute
to the OHS team V/TO strategy for the short term (1-2 years). - Provide
input into new products, processes, and operational plans with some impact on overall function results. - Improve
existing processes and systems through conceptualization, reasoning, and interpretation. - Investigate and gather hard-to-obtain
information to address root causes of problems or issues. - Communicate
within and outside of job function. - Influence
others to adopt new concepts, practices, and approaches. - Engage
with executive leadership on significant OHS matters. - Conduct briefings with senior leaders in the
function. - Provide
guidance, coaching, and training to employees across the company. - Manage
large, complex project initiatives involving cross-functional teams. - May have direct reports.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's
Degree in Environmental Health & Safety, or equivalent experience. - At least
seven (7) years of experience in OHS. - BCSP
CHST or equivalent experience is required. - OSHA 500 certification
is mandatory.
Preferred Qualifications
- 5+ years
of experience in Microsoft Office, Procore, and Bluebeam as well as an understanding of Primavera scheduling and BIM - DBIA
and/or LEED Accreditation - First
Aid, and CPR certifications - LEED GA
accreditation at a minimum, specialty accreditation a plus - Understanding of the strategic,
operational, and financial components of a construction project
