JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Penn State College of Medicine, Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, in Hershey, PA is seeking a Human Research Technologist to assist in medical research.

The successful candidate will assist in receiving, tracking, processing, storage and dissemination of clinical samples from multiple clinical sites across the country that are participating in an NIH funded study on diabetes. The job requires unpacking and cataloging samples that are shipped weekly to the Institute, storing those samples in the Institute's biorepository and subsequently recovering and shipping selected samples to other sites for analysis. This requires continuous monitoring of the biorepository database for accuracy and completeness.

The technologist will also assist in maintaining the Institute's CAP accreditation by ensuring adequate training of staff, monitoring and maintaining freezers and other equipment within the biorepository in compliance with the standard operating procedures, and preparing reports in preparation for yearly CAP inspections.

This position typically requires an Associate's degree or higher (Bachelor's degree preferred) plus 2 years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

This is a limited-term position funded for one year from date of hire, with possibility of refunding.

  • Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Criminal Background Check

The pay range for this position, including all possible grades is:

$42,100.00 - $61,000.00
