The Role:

The Sales Executive - Sustainable Finance is an exciting opportunity for someone who wants to work in a fast-paced commercial environment in supporting capital markets, principally debt capital markets, securitization teams, and sustainable finance teams, in the use of our Second Party Opinion services in their products offered to clients.

The mandate of the role will be to manage and grow relationships with capital markets teams involved with sustainable financing activity. This is a commission-based sales role, and as such, success will be measured by new sales of Sustainalytics sustainable finance solutions for a book of corporate clients and banking partners.

The role is open to either our New York, Chicago or Toronto locations and is a hybrid role. Competency in Spanish Is preferred.

Responsibilities:

  • Build profound relationships with all stakeholders, including clients, prospects, and industry leaders.
  • Play a role in developing and implementing Morningstar Sustainalytics' business development strategy for the Americas region.
  • Support underwriters to offer sustainable financing transactions using Sustainalytics opinions.
  • Support underwriters to advise their clients and understanding and interpreting our Taxonomy.
  • Support intermediaries to advise their clients on new opportunities for sustainable themes.
  • Support Product Managers to integrate new developments into offerings.
  • Understand and be familiar with Green, Social and Sustainable Bond Principles (ICMA) including guidelines for various instruments such as Loans, Securitizations, Deposits etc.
  • Identify areas for collaboration and cross selling within Morningstar.
  • Grow and maintain a robust sales pipeline by:
    • Owning a Book of Business and identifying and successfully closing commercial opportunities.
    • Keeping abreast of market developments, identifying, and sharing product innovation opportunities.
    • Representing the company at industry events, conferences, and public speaking engagements.
  • Collaborating regularly with colleagues in the US, Canada, as well as global teams in EMEA and APAC.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate needs to be an ambitious team player who can reach objectives individually, as well as through close collaboration and coordination with other team members, based on Morningstar Sustainalytics' consultative sales philosophy. A strong understanding of the Morningstar organization and a passion for sustainability is key to success in the role.

  • Competency in Spanish Is preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree is required; an advanced degree is desirable.
  • Successful track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets in a competitive environment, preferably within the financial services industry.
  • Client facing and commercially minded, able to respond quickly to customers in a sales environment.
  • Experience in financials, ESG/sustainability research preferred.
  • Strong network in the relevant market and experience with selling in such cultures.
  • Recognized Financial Qualifications, strong understanding of the underlying financial products leveraging our ratings.
  • Degree in related discipline (business, finance, environment and/or social sciences).
  • Strong client servicing, consultative sales and overall strong commercial skills.
  • Efficient, entrepreneurial and well-organized team-player with a high level of integrity.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and writing skills.
  • The desire to work very closely within an international and diverse team.

Total Cash Compensation Range: $113,650 - $204,575
