The increasing complexities of modern transportation include growing demands, aging infrastructure, rising costs, funding challenges, and environmental concerns. Agencies and communities faced with improving their transportation systems must do more with less. From initial investigations through planning, concept development, final design, and construction, DEA responds with solutions that serve today's transportation needs while accommodating tomorrow's growth. Our Transportation Business Unit focuses on four markets: Bridges and Structures, Roads and Highways, Transit and Rail, and Construction Engineering.

The Inland Northwest Market is seeking a Transportation CAD Designer in Spokane, WA, Tri-Cities, WA, Coeur d'Alene, ID, Boise, ID or Pocatello, ID.

What You'll Do Key Responsibilities:
  • Utilize state-of-the-art computer drafting tools and have a high level of competency to use design software such as AutoCAD, MicroStation and OpenRoads Designer.
  • Translate mark-ups into drawings, check and plot drawings, correctly label final working drawings, calculate and update project quantities, and update contract drawings.
  • Perform design-related tasks under the supervision of a registered Professional Engineer using standard guidelines and criteria such as AASHTO and others.
  • Set up and maintain standard drawing files, directory structures, naming conventions, and software workspaces; and adhere to company drafting standards or create project-specific standards as applicable to each project.
  • Obtain work assignments of specific design elements from project manager, task leader, or department staff and work within an allocated budget.
  • Set up directories and work within file-sharing software such as ProjectWise or other.
  • Review all work for completeness and accuracy. Participate in company- and project-driven quality control and assurance processes.
What You Bring Required Qualifications:
  • Associate of Applied Science Degree in Civil Drafting, Civil Engineering Technology, or related field.
  • Experienced with MicroStation/OpenRoads or AutoCAD/Civil 3D
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Transportation project experience
  • Washington or Idaho Departments of Transportation project experience
  • Experience with ProjectWise
  • 5+ years' experience drafting related to transportation engineering projects.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
