Position Summary:
The Department of Chemistry
& Environmental Science seeks a Professor of Practice in Pharmaceutical
Chemistry to serve as the graduate program director of the Department's
Master of Science (M.S.) in Pharmaceutical Chemistry as well as the
Professional Science Master's (PSM) in Cell & Gene Therapy Sciences
option. The Professor of Practice in Pharmaceutical Chemistry will bridge
relevant academic knowledge with industry expertise and focus on developing
strong collaborations with pharmaceutical companies while recruiting
qualified professionals to offer instruction in the degree program. The Professor of Practice will also help develop a fully online version of the program to broaden
access and provide more students the opportunity to prosper from an education
in this critical area, and to deepen the institution's ties with the
pharmaceutical industry.

Essential Functions:
The Professor of Practice
in Pharmaceutical Chemistry's primary job responsibilities include graduate-level program administration and instruction in
pharmaceutical chemistry:
- Serve as Program Director for the M.S. in Pharmaceutical Chemistry as well as the PSM in Cell & Gene Therapy Science program option.
- Coordinate guest lectures and seminars.
- Facilitate industry-academia collaborations.
- Develop a fully online version of the graduate degree and associated certificate programs.
- Lead efforts to develop relevant online graduate degree and certificate programs.
- Forge strong ties with industry, including the formation and oversight of the pharmaceutical chemistry professional advisory committee.
- Develop and maintain an industry-relevant curriculum, as the pharmaceutical industry evolves rapidly, particularly in the area of biologics, whether peptide, protein, or antibody therapies, vaccines, or cell and gene therapies, so it's critically important to keep the curriculum current with industry trends and demands.
- Mentor students professionally toward achieving their career aspirations.
- Teaching load is two graduate courses in pharmaceutical chemistry or related areas per semester.
- Teaching functions include preparation of instructional materials; submission of final grades; any student-related contact pertaining to courses; holding regularly scheduled office hours; and writing recommendation letters for students.

Prerequisite Qualifications:
- Master's degree in biological, chemical, or pharmaceutical sciences, or other relevant areas of study.
- Minimum of 10 years' relevant industry experience in the pharmaceutical industry.
- Track record of innovation and leadership.
- Demonstrated commitment to education and mentorship.
- At the university's discretion, the education and experience prerequisites may be excepted where the candidate can demonstrate to the
satisfaction of the university an equivalent combination of education and experience specifically preparing the candidate for
success in the position.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Ph.D. in biological, chemical, or pharmaceutical sciences, or other relevant areas of study preferred.
- Prior university teaching experience strongly preferred.
- Expertise in curriculum development, program assessment, and industry regulatory practices/compliance.
