Environmental Science/Planning Intern -Summer 2025

Duties and responsibilities:

• Collect and analyze data from various sources in order to determine affects to the environment
• Assist with the preparation of documents and graphics to support ongoing project milestones
• Research and contribute to technical reports and/or memorandums in support of different waterfront projects
• Assist other scientists and engineers with field visits and inspections
• Coordinate and communicate with a variety of audiences including clients, engineers other scientists, client stakeholders, regulatory agencies, and private companies in a professional and respectful manner
• Participate in meetings and educational seminars
• Support and comply with Moffatt & Nichol's Quality Program
• Colloborate with project team members
• Support other scientists and engineers as assigned

Qualifications:

• Must be a junior pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's Degree in the environmental sciences or a planning program
• At least one previous related internship preferred but not required
• Ability to perform field investigations
• Any experience in scientific analysis or planning a plus
• Exceptional communication (verbal and written) skills in order to work with different groups of individuals (both technical and non-technical)
• Detail-oriented for analyzing and interpreting scientific data
• Ability to perform basic mathematical and statistical calculations
• Geographic Information Systems (GIS) skills are preferred
• All new hires will be required to successfully complete and pass a pre-employment (post offer) background check in compliance with NIST 800-171

Base salary range:

$25.00 to $30.00 per hour based on years of experience, level of education obtained, professional registration, and meeting required qualification in job description.

Physical requirements:

Majority of work is office based. Some site visits may be required which may necessitate navigating unpaved or natural terrain while carrying equipment.
