Key Position Details:

We are seeking a Laboratory Manager with exceptional communication skills and a solid background in change management and operations. Your leadership will be crucial in navigating our dynamic environment, and while histology experience is a plus, it is not a requirement. Job Description:

Oversees the day-to-day operations in support of all facets of the laboratory operation. Ensures effective operation and maintenance of all laboratory equipment, manages testing, develops and manages budgets, meets customer service levels, and regulatory requirements. Manages staff including scheduling, performance management and fostering employee engagement.

Principle Responsibilities

  • Oversees daily operational performance.
    • Monitors and oversees implementation of process improvements to meet or enhance quality and service targets.
    • Takes accountability and resolves next level escalation on customer service issues.
    • Assists in developing and implementing operations budget.
    • Monitors financial, volume, and productivity data to meet targets.
    • Implements cost reduction opportunities when identified.
    • Develops and maintains laboratory policies and procedures.
    • May have accountability for management of a non-laboratory department.
  • Management of staff.
    • Performance management of employee, including performance reviews.
    • Hiring and onboarding of new employees.
    • Train, orients and maintains competencies for employees.
    • Maintains scheduling, time off approval and timecard sign-off.
    • Maintain optimal staffing.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in medical technology or related field or
  • Health, Education, and Welfare(HEW) equivalency exam (pre 1988) with seven years of relevant experience
  • 3 to 7 years of Laboratory experience
  • 3 to 7 years of progressive management accountability

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in medical technology or related field

Licenses/Certifications

  • Certified Medical Laboratory Technician - American Society for Clinical Pathology Board of Certification (ASCP BOC) required upon hire
  • Certified Medical Laboratory Scientist - American Society for Clinical Pathology Board of Certification (ASCP BOC) preferred

Pay Range

Pay Range: $43.65 to $60.40 per hour The pay described reflects the base hiring pay range. Your starting rate would depend on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, your experience and education. Additional incentives may be available, including discretionary monetary bonuses, goal-based bonuses, and other financial incentives.
