Assistant/Associate/Professor - Cancer Prevention and Control

Description

The West Virginia University Cancer Institute is seeking applications for a Research Professor (open rank) non-tenure track in Cancer Prevention and Control Intervention Research. We seek a colleague who will build a program of independent research in cancer prevention and control and/or implementation science in a multidisciplinary collaborative environment located in a major academic cancer center. This opportunity offers the potential for creation of highly impactful research and programs in the areas of cancer risk factors, prevention, early detection, survivorship/quality of life, or rural health. The successful candidate would ideally have demonstrated success in population-based cancer research on grant-funded projects. Candidates with experience working in a collaborative, biomedical research setting and record of extramural grant support are highly preferred.

The faculty member's academic appointment will reside in the Department of Cancer Prevention and Control, WVU School of Medicine, WVU Cancer Institute. This position will report to Stephenie Kennedy-Rea, EdD, Chair of the Department of Cancer Prevention and Control.

Qualifications

Applicant must have:



  • A relevant doctoral degree or equivalent
  • A proven track record of sustained peer-reviewed funded research in cancer etiology, risk reduction, screening, early detection, and/or survival
  • Advanced expertise in research design and methodology
  • Candidates must have a scholarly record of collaboration in multidisciplinary investigator teams informed by community needs and with key focal sites within communities such as healthcare practices, community centers, organizations, or neighborhoods
  • Record of peer-reviewed publications in cancer and behavioral sciences
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Evidence of mentoring experience


Responsibilities include:



  • Conducting research and/or leading research teams (95% of time)
  • Collaborating and mentoring residents, students, staff on cancer prevention and control projects including manuscript development, data analysis, IRB submissions, and study design
  • Writing and collaborating on grants to support 95% of the position
  • Coordinating research projects
  • Preparing manuscripts
  • Planning and assisting outcome studies
  • Coordinating collaborations between the WV Clinical and Translations Science Institute (CTSI), Cancer Institute, and other identified internal and external partners
