The Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University is looking for a Web Application Developer to add to our existing team. We create and manage the technology solutions for students, faculty, staff, and alumni. An ideal candidate will have knowledge of .NET, React.js, Node.js, Python and SQL Server, as well as an interest in exploring new technologies and practices for both web and AI applications. They should also have a passion for the mission of higher education. This role will have opportunities to learn and grow as they expand our existing services, both by creating new applications, as well as by updating existing applications with new technology and cloud services. They should have strong analytical and communication skills, a desire to solve complex problems, enjoy working with team members and clients, and be comfortable with the full lifecycle of application development. Job Summary:

Completes maintenance on existing software products. Assists in developing code, tests and debugging new software or making enhancements to existing software. Writes programs according to specifications from senior staff. Perform basic system integration tasks.

Specific Responsibilities:

Strategic Planning

  • Collaborates with users to develop workflow and best practices.
  • Assists in all stages of the project, starting from the initial planning stages.

Administration

  • Responds to inquiries via phone, online, in-person, etc.
  • Creates and maintains software/process/support documentation.
  • Routes more complex requests for features/upgrades/changes to appropriate senior staff/management.
  • Participates in team/project meetings.
  • Identifies database and software performance issues and makes adjustments

Development

  • Assists with design, development, and maintenance.
  • Tests and debugs software.
  • Writes programs according to specifications from senior staff.
  • Codes software applications adhering to designs that support internal business requirements or external user.
  • Competes tier 3 troubleshooting.
  • Develops reports.
  • Prioritizes assigned tasks.
  • Opens help tickets with vendors.

Miscellaneous

Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree in a major such as computer science, information technology, or related; OR appropriate combination of education and experience.
  • No experience required.

Target hiring range for this position will be between $75,000 - $85,000 per year. Offered salary will be determined by the applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
