The College of Law is seeking a Director of Field Placement Program for the academic year (2025-2026) for a one-year visiting faculty position to cover the duties of the current Director, Field Placement Programs while they are on a professional development leave.

The Field Placement Program is one of the College of Law's experiential learning programs and serves approximately 30-40 students each semester and in the summer. Through the Field Placement program, students work in government or non-profit agencies, criminal prosecution or defense offices, state and federal judges' chambers, and select corporate counsel offices. The program is immersive; students earn between 6 and 14 credits during the academic year and participate in a 2-credit seminar alongside their field work. Candidates may be considered for remote work.

The Visiting Professor will oversee all aspects of the Field Placement Program under the guidance of the current Director. The duties include:

* Overseeing administrative aspects of the Field Placement Program such as developing programming, marketing, and informational sessions

* Reviewing and approving potential student-initiated field placement opportunities;

* Coordinating applications and maintaining relationships with legal service providers that partner with the law school;

* Counsel students regarding course selection and scheduling together with identifying, applying to, and preparing for field placements;

* Coordinating certification of students for student practice;

* Developing curricular materials, as needed, and providing guidance to full-time and adjunct faculty teaching within the field placement program;

* Communicating with various offices, including the Registrar, Financial Aid, Dean's office, faculty curriculum committee, faculty supervisors, and field supervisors;

* Coordinating other experiential opportunities, such as the Poverty Law Practicum, Poverty Law Intern Program, and the Prosecuting Intern Program; and

* Potentially teaching one section of the field placement seminar each semester.

* Strong understanding of ABA standards relevant to experiential education.

* Minimum five years of law-related professional experience after law school.

* Teaching experience in experiential course work and administrative oversight of either clinics or externships.

* Ability to effectively interact with a population of varying perspectives.

* Demonstrated ability to lead and/or develop business processes to align with marketplace demands.

* Experience supporting professional development and mentoring students in the legal industry.
