Job Summary

The NTRC Imaging Scientist will join our pioneering team between the Departments of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences and Radiology at UCSF.

This role will focus on developing and optimizing data processing and analysis pipelines for advanced neuroimaging studies, including (but not limited to) functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) and diffusion tensor imaging (DTI).

The overarching goal of these studies is to develop imaging biomarkers of neuropsychiatric disorders and to personalize targeting and evaluate the effects of novel circuit-based treatments, in particular neuromodulation with brain-directed focused ultrasound.

The successful candidate will be based at the new Neuroimaging Technology Research Center (NTRC) within the Pritzker Psychiatry building at UCSF, which includes two next-generation 3T Siemens MRI scanners and a dedicated focused ultrasound neuromodulation suite.

The NTRC Imaging Scientist will work closely with the center's scientific and technical directors and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of experts in support of multiple projects that aim to enhance our understanding and develop novel treatment approaches for neuropsychiatric conditions - from major depression to chronic pain - through the integration of neuroimaging data, behavioral/physiological monitoring, and cutting edge neuromodulation technologies.

The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.

Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.

The salary range for this position is $99,100 - $157,600 (Annual Rate).

Department Description

The Department of Radiology & Biomedical Imaging is one of the largest departments in the School of Medicine at UCSF. Its mission is research (basic and clinical), teaching, patient care, and public service. Major activities of the department include general Radiology, Mammography, Interventional Radiology, CT, MRI, Ultrasound and Nuclear Medicine. The Department has 32 sections and research units, 150 full-time faculty, 285 staff, and 160 trainees across six sites: Parnassus, ZSFG, VA Medical Center, Mt. Zion, China Basin Landing, and Mission Bay (QB3). Many of our faculty conduct research activities and manage large research staffs, including students, fellows, post docs, and staff research associates. Some conduct bench research in wet lab settings; others have dry lab (computer based) research programs or specialize in clinical research.
