Job Description |
Harford Community College is seeking qualified instructors to teach nursing assistant courses including theory, lab, and clinical instruction. Additional duties include, but are not limited to, assisting with set-up, inventory, and cleaning of the practice lab, maintaining course and student records and submitting them at course completion, assisting with submission of reports and applications to the Maryland Board of Nursing (
MBON) as indicated.
Employees of Harford Community College, including instructors for online and virtual courses, must be residents of Maryland or the contiguous states of Delaware, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia or the District of Columbia. Work is generally performed on the College campus unless otherwise specified.
Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States, as the College does not offer Visa sponsorship for this position.

Required Education |
Must be a registered nurse licensed and able to currently practice in the state of Maryland. A minimum of an associate's degree in nursing is required. American Heart Association
BLS
CPR is required. Documentation of receiving required vaccinations for clinical teaching must be submitted. |
Required Experience |
Must have a minimum of two (2) years of nursing experience, at least one (1) year of that experience in caring for the elderly or chronically ill (long-term care experience) in the past five (5) years. Minimum of sixteen (16) hours of course instruction in Principles of Adult Education OR two (2) years nursing related teaching experience.
Tier I: No prior teaching experience

Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities |
- Clinical expertise in nursing.
- Ability to teach the adult learner the knowledge and skills required to function as a proficient nurse including theory, lab, and clinical instruction.
- Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills and have excellent organizational skills with an ability to attend to details and multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be responsive to student calls and in handling student concerns.
- Ability to participate in coordination of clinical activities, including maintaining rosters and facilitating communication amongst students and faculty.
