REPORTS TO: Supervisor of IT and Network Administrator, Executive Director of Technology & District Support Services

SUPERVISION: None

SALARY: $22.50 - $28.50/hr

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required
  • High School diploma plus 2 years post-secondary education - Electronics/Information Technology or related field
  • 3 years' experience in related areas
  • Knowledge of and experience working with software, computers, mobile devices, computer networks (cabled and wireless), Microsoft Products, Apple Products, Linux OS; device maintenance in a multiple device environment to include re-imaging, virus removal, maintenance techniques such as batch scripting, MS PowerShell and/or Linux shell scripting
  • Knowledge and experience working with analog and digital audio/video devices such as audio amplification, television, interactive white boards, projectors, program recording and playback, A/V connection cable types and wireless A/V connection techniques
Preferred
  • Knowledge of and experience working with Chromebook/Chromebox and Chrome OS
  • Knowledge of and experience working with Macbook/iMac and Apple OS
  • Experience in technical design, and configuration
  • Ability to maintain technical documentation, data and to generate reports to support the work of the program
  • Power Limited Technician (PLT) licensure, understanding of structured cabling design configuration & installation
  • Experience with telephone, security systems and surveillance systems.
  • Apple certification
  • Google administrator certification(s)
  • MDM management experience
OTHER SKILLS: Excellent organization and project management skills; strong communication skills including writing, speaking and listening; ability to work with diverse groups; skill in team building and collaboration with a demonstrated ability to involve others in work and to inform others of processes, decisions and events; knowledge and understanding of technical design, engineering and configuration techniques.

POSITION SUMMARY: The District Support Technician is responsible for assisting the School District in the design, development, installation, and maintenance of computer networks, telecommunications, computers, and other electronic equipment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
  • Provides technical support and maintenance for PC & Apple, Microsoft & Google products, software, audio visual, and electronic equipment; determines when commercial repair services are needed and assures equipment is in working order
  • Plans and conducts training sessions for teachers and other staff on the use of telecommunications, computers, audio visual, and electronic equipment
  • Provides information to the Director of Innovation and Technology Services and Technology services coordinator(s) in the planning, design, and purchasing for electronic projects and equipment related to new building construction, remodeling, replacement, and sub-contracted items
  • Serves as a site representative for up to four District sites, duties include daily communication with media specialists and administrators to determine the design options for telecommunications and computer networking; attend to building staff requests for repair, maintenance, and technical support; offer suggestions for improvements to better accommodate District equipment
  • Maintains a computer inventory of parts, repair, and job records; checks the operating quality of equipment to ensure that it is working properly upon delivery
  • Updates department as appropriate on daily activities for department organization and job/project routing and maintenance
  • Other duties as assigned
